Taupo Police name drowning victim

At about 1:30pm on Sunday 11 April, 2010, a group of teenage males entered the Waikato Rivery south of the Spa Park Thermal Hot Pools.

The group of 12 decided to enter the river with the intention of floating down stream to the hot pool area.

Shortly after entering the water, one of the group got into difficulties and despite efforts to keep him afloat, friends were unable to save him.

Bradley Martin, a 17 year old male from Whanganui, has drowned as a result of the incident.

The Wellington Police Dive Squad were due to recover the body from the river this morning.
