Police have closed a portion of SH41 - Turangi

Police have closed a portion of SH41 on the western shore of Lake Taupö as they deal with a serious crash.

Two people are reported to be in a serious condition and one critical following the crash involving two cars. Two helicopters have been used to transport the injured to Rotorua Hospital. The crash occurred at 4.20pm.

Diversions are in place at the intersection of SH41 with SH32 in the north and with SH47 to the south. The diversion routes traffic through National Park and Taumarunui, a considerable detour. Northbound traffic is advised to use SH1 where possible.
