COROMANDEL

Paeroa to host free public methamphetamine and drug awareness presentation

Members of the public are invited to a free methamphetamine and drug awareness presentation in Paeroa in May.

The hour-and-a-half presentation is part of a road show that begins in Waihi and Whangamata next Monday and will tour schools from Coromandel to Hauraki. The free public evening presentation will be presented by Methcon Group, New Zealand’s only specialist educators in the area of methamphetamine.

Thames-Coromandel Road Safety Coordinator, Ingrid Le Fevre says alcohol and drugs are a high priority for the overall Road Safety 2020 Strategy as well as a focus for the East Waikato area. "Thames-Coromandel is seventh in the country with alcohol and drugs a factor in 22.7 per cent of all local fatal and serious injury crashes," she said.

"The Methcon presentation will give you a comprehensive look into the world of methamphetamine or "P" and will empower you to become more proactive in the prevention of "P," drug and alcohol abuse."

Interested individuals can attend the free community presentation on Wednesday night, 12 May at the Paeroa Memorial Hall, Normanby Road, SH2, Paeroa. The presentation will begin at 6:00pm and no RSVP is required.
