NELSON

As a result of the steady rain received yesterday Nelson City Council has lifted the water restrictions that had been in place for those taking water directly from streams and wells in the following catchment areas:

  • Whangamoa River and tributaries
  • Wakapuaka River downstream of the Teal Confluence
  • Teal River
  • Oldham Creek
  • Poorman Valley Stream

River levels in these areas are now above the minimum flows but still low. Council will continue to monitor these streams and if no further significant rain falls, it may be forced to impose restrictions again at a later date.

Residents are thanked for their cooperation to date and are reminded of the need to always use water wisely and conserve this precious resource whenever possible.
