Alexandra's Matt Scoles opened his 2010 European racing campaign over the weekend with a win for his new professional downhill mountainbike team, Cingolani-Proton. Scoles has now been based in Italy with his new team for two weeks, and raced at the XI Trophy Terme di Fontecchio, Citta di Castello (Perugia) against a high class Italian field mixed with other international racers.

George Brannigan (Hawkes Bay, Ancillotti-Doganaccia) was also racing on debut for his new 2010 pro team. Brannigan, still a 2nd year Junior is this year following a proven pathway with Ancillotti that led to a 2009 World Championship Junior gold medal for fellow Hawkes Bay athlete Brook MacDonald, and like Scoles, Brannigan also has a full World Cup season ahead of him.
