WELLINGTON CITY

A post mortem examination will be carried out later this morning on the body of an 18-year-old found yesterday morning in the Soho Apartment Complex in central Wellington.

Detective Inspector Paul Basham says enquiries are continuing this morning with residents of the Soho Apartment Complex, who may have seen or heard anything unusual late on Saturday night.

A scene examination was carried out by Police yesterday, however the area remains cordoned off.

Detective Inspector Basham says we are unable to release any details as to this young man’s identity until the formal identification process has been completed, which is likely to be later today. However we are able to say that he was 18 years of age and originates from Porirua.

“We have been able to ascertain that this young man was at a party in an apartment within the Soho Complex before his death. Associates discovered his body yesterday morning and contacted emergency services after attempting first aid.”

He says officers are at the scene this morning, conducting interviews with residents but if for any reason they are not spoken to by Police today and they have any useful information, I’d urge them to get in touch with us.

People can either phone the Wellington Police or phone the Crimestoppers free phone line 0800 555 111.
