A thorough scene examination and results of a post-mortem indicate that a young man fell to his death at the Soho Apartments at the weekend.

Detective Inspector Paul Basham says the name of the young man can now be released, as members of his extended family have been advised. He was 18 year-old Dushan Pouao, from Porirua.

Mr Pouao was at a party at the Soho Apartments on Saturday night before his death. Associates discovered his body around 8-30am on Sunday morning.

Detective Inspector Basham says enquiries are still continuing with a view to reconstructing what took place and how Mr Pouau came to fall from the building.

"This is an important component as we are required to provide the Coroner with an assurance that Police have thoroughly investigated this matter, which in turn will provide a degree of comfort for the family, as they come to terms with the events of what occurred over the weekend."

"The exact cause of death will be determined by the Coroner in due course, following a Coronial enquiry."

The family has asked for privacy at this time and do not wish to be contacted by the media.
