A woman tramper was airlifted to hospital at approximately 2.15pm this
afternoon by the Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic onboard, was
asked to respond to the Wellington Skyline Walkway where a 28 year old
woman had slipped on a muddy section of the walkway and injured her
ankle.
Helicopter pilot Harry Stevenson was able to bring the helicopter into
land on the narrow track approximately 20 meters from the patient.
"Once the patients ankle was stabilized and she was helped on board the
helicopter it was only a short 3 minute flight to hospital for her "
said crewman Colin Larsen.
The woman is currently being assessed for a possible fracture of her
ankle in the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department.
