Light aircraft fatality near Feilding

There has been a mid air incident involving two light aircraft near Feilding.

The incident happened shortly after 3.30pm today and at least one person is believed to have died.

Police and other emergency services are at the scene. Representatives from the Transport Accident Investigation Commission are en route.

Details are still sketchy but police say one of the two planes landed safely at Taonui Airfield, Feilding. The second light aircraft crashed onto a paddock off Durie Road.
