NORTH SHORE CITY

The North Shore is proud to welcome a Mac’s Brewbar to Hurstmere Road. Hurstmere Road Mac’s Brewbar will follow in the footsteps of its six much-loved Mac’s Brewbar siblings in Auckland, Wellington, Nelson and Christchurch.

Hurstmere Road Mac’s Brewbar, located on the old site of iconic venue R’toto, has taken the finest elements from each of the Brewbars before it and added some quirky characteristics to celebrate its location on the North Shore. In keeping with the sunlight that is synonymous with Takapuna, the roof has been removed in the front of the bar, to allow natural light to stream in. The doors throughout have been refurbished from old North Shore villas, reflecting the Brewbar’s locale.

The driving forces behind this development are owner/operators Kevin Schwass and Dean Lodge. Neither are strangers to the area or the industry. Kevin has been instrumental in developing a precinct for bars and restaurants in Takapuna and received a Queen’s Service Medal for services to the hospitality industry and the community early this year, while Dean previously owned the busy Auckland City pub, Empire Tavern.

Hurstmere Road Mac’s Brewbar will be a terrific venue that has the ability to accommodate locals in a variety of different spaces. The decor has a little something for everyone with areas for dining, relaxing and even a library if a spot of reading takes your fancy.

A Mac’s Brewbar is a place where beer lovers can feel right at home. It’s a relaxing space, but a creative one too, with an eclectic collection of sights, smells and tastes.

The friendly, but slightly eccentric bar staff are very passionate about beer and know their brews inside out. They are able to match a beer with any of the dishes that feature on the appealing menu.

As well as having your favourite Mac’s Brews on tap, The Hurstmere Road Mac’s Brewbar will be home to limited edition seasonal beer releases such as Sun Dance (Summer Ale), Log Burner (Winter Ale) and Brewjolais (brewed from the first fresh hops of the season) as well as the Mac’s Non-Alcoholic range.

The new Hurstmere Road Mac’s Brewbar at 136 Hurstmere Road will open its doors to the public on the Wednesday 4th August.
