Two men killed in Waiouru crash are named

Two men killed in a crash on the Desert Road at the weekend have been identified as Kuljinder Singh and Jagroop Singh, both aged 22, and living in Papatoetoe.

The crash happened around 7.45am on Saturday, 31 July, when a Toyota sedan car travelling south collided with a truck and trailer unit heading north.

Kuljinder, the driver of the Toyota, and Jagroop, the front seat passenger, died at the scene. Although the men share the same surname they are not related. Kuljinder was working as a shop assistant and Jagroop was a student.

The truck driver from Palmerston North was unhurt.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
