Margaret Moth CNN Documentary – A Feature of the Auckland 2010 World Press Photo Exhibition

World Press Photo Exhibition hits Auckland on the 14th of August and runs for 3 weeks. It will feature award winning international current affairs photography from 2010. A highlight of this year’s exhibition will be the Margaret Moth Documentary “Fearless” which will be screened at the exhibition courtesy of CNN.

Reported to be New Zealand's first camerawoman, Moth moved to the U.S where she joined CNN. Moth sought out, even demanded, assignments in conflict zones. She was the kind of woman who not only kept the camera rolling while under fire, but zoomed in on the soldiers shooting at her.

In 1992, on assignment in Sarajevo, a bullet shattered her jaw, took out her teeth and a large portion of her tongue. Moth underwent many surgeries to reconstruct her face, and as soon as she could carry a camera again, she went straight back to Sarajevo to join her CNN colleagues. She joked that she was there to find her teeth.

Despite battling a terminal disease for the last three years of her life, Moth, who was born Margaret Wilson but changed her last name to Moth because she loved parachuting from Tiger Moth planes, knew she had lived her life to the fullest. She said: "I don't know anyone who's enjoyed life more."

She passed away early on March 21, 2010, after a 3-year battle with cancer.

$5 Entry Fee
All proceeds from the entry fee will be donated to charity by the Rotary Club of Auckland
