Don't alter ski passes!

Queenstown Police are issuing a warning to anyone who has, or is considering, altering their NZ Ski season pass, in order to try and obtain free transport up and down the Mountain - Don't!

Police have arrested and charged three overseas Tourists involved in three separate incidents in the past 24 hours after vigilant Ski staff noticed that the Passes presented had been altered.

Sgt Brian Cameron of Queenstown stated that Police were called on each occasion and the three individuals - two from Australia and one from England - are all facing charges of Altering a Document which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment.

CAMERON further stated that the three individuals had had their Ski Passes, valued at $949:00 revoked and had been trespassed from each of the three ski fields which those passes had given them access to - Coronet Peak, Remarkables and Mt Hutt - for a period of 2 years, by NZ Ski.

CAMERON said "The conditions of use for the passes are very clear and made available to everyone who purchases them. Fraudulent use will not be tolerated and, as the penalty demonstrates, this is viewed as a serious offence.

Likewise, the practise of giving your pass to a friend or relative, for them to use, is also an offence.

If you intend to use the services on offer, ensure you have paid for them or suffer the consequences."
