At a hearing held in Pukekohe on 2 August 2010 the Liquor Licensing Authority cancelled the off-licence held by Fresh and Save for their premises 231/235 Manukau Road, Pukekohe.

The hearing was presented with information about two occasions where underage purchasers were supplied with alcohol without being asked their age or to produce identification. On one of these occasions the Duty Manager was not even on the premises and could not be contacted.

Following the decision Franklin District Council Group Manager Environmental Services, James Jefferson said “at a time when the community is very aware of the issues and the social problems around the supply of alcohol this is a very pleasing outcome. It just shows that we must use the regulations we have at our disposal now and can’t sit on our hands waiting for changes.”
