New Zealand celebrity chef Peter Gordon and opera singer Dame Malvina Major will make a night of it in London next month at one of Henry VIII’s old haunts off Bleeding Heart Lane.

On September 10, Friends and members of the NZ Society in London will dine on canapes created by Gordon, followed with a four-course gourmet dinner from Bleeding Heart, accompanied by award- winning Kiwi wines from Trinity Hill and enjoy a magical evening with opera performances from Dame Malvina and her quartet of young New Zealand artists.

Dame Malvina is best remembered in London for her starring role as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus at Covent Garden and will be accompanied by her four Kiwi protégés Hadleigh Adams, baritone; Anna Argyle, soprano; Andrew Grenon, tenor; Polly Ott, soprano and Kirsten Simpson, pianist.

All profits from the gala evening will go to the Dame Malvina Major Foundation and the NZ-UK Young Chef's Culinary Challenge.

The NZ-UK Young Chef's Culinary Challenge was set up by Gordon and provides an opportunity for one budding young chef from each country to visit and work in some of the best restaurants in both New Zealand and the UK over a period of four weeks.

The Crypt of St Ethelreda venue in Holborn follows in the footsteps of Henry VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon who hosted a grand feast in 1531.
