Taupo Police seek public's help after aggravated burglary at Taupo bakery

Taupo Police are appealing to the public to help them identify an offender who broke into the Beaut Bakery on Spa Road at approximately 3.40am on Monday.

The store owner arrived at the building and was confronted by the offender who was armed with a metal bar.

The offender has fled the scene with a white plastic bucket containing approximately $200 in coins.

The offender has been described as male, 172cm tall, medium build and was wearing a black hoody and black jeans.

Detective Sergeant Tony Manunui of Taupo Police says police welcome the assistance of the community in identifying this offender.

He says unfortunately the victim did not report the incident until the following day.

"I just want to stress, if an offender has been disturbed or confronted and runs, phone police immediately."

No one was injured as a result of the incident.
