Who is NZs Biggest Hot Wheels Fan?

To own a Hot Wheels toy as a child is like owning a slice of the petrolhead lifestyle. These unique collectable die-cast cars have been inspiring the active minds of young boys across the globe since 1968 and have created along the way a loyal following of crazed fans and serious collectors.

After four decades of producing innovative race car toys for boys, many Hot Wheels cars have become collectable items and reach high figures at club meets and shows. Hot Wheels has maintained its hype throughout time with some incredible milestones. Since 1968, Mattel has produced over 2 billion Hot Wheels cars, more than Detroit’s “Big Three” auto makers combined, stacked end-to-end, the amount of Hot Wheels cars produced to date would circle the earth 8 times! Six Hot Wheels cars are sold every second and each year more Hot Wheels cars are produced than all car manufacturers combined.

Mattel, maker of iconic toy brands such as Hot Wheels, is calling all New Zealanders young and young at heart to pull out their Hot Wheels cars and take their claim to fame as New Zealand’s biggest Hot Wheels fan. The biggest fan could have the rarest, the biggest or the most vintage collection of cars. All it takes is a photo of you and your collection to enter and all entries can be seen at www.hotwheelsbiggestfan.co.nz.

Hot Wheels will be visiting five The Warehouse stores during the 2010 September school holidays with a custom built ‘Sprint Track’, where youngsters can race their Hot Wheels cars down the windy track for a high speed race. At each of the five Hot Wheels events at The Warehouse, there will be a fantastic custom decaled Hot Wheels pedal car prize and other fun activities.

As a special treat, the ultimate winner of New Zealand’s biggest Hot Wheels fan will be flown to Auckland to be the first to test out the Sprint Track on the 25th September at The Warehouse Albany, with their own favourite Hot Wheels car and will also receive one of the Hot Wheels pedal cars (one of only 6 to be won in NZ). The winner will also receive a night’s accommodation and spending money.
