In a strange twist of logic, the Advertising Standards Authority has today upheld complaints about the image used on a recent billboard by the Erotica Lifestyles Expo.

The 'offending' image depicts a woman protecting her modesty by holding a piece of melon in front of her groin area.

No nudity is depicted, nor is any violence or sexual activity - simply a woman holding a melon.

Is the problem that the billboard was advertising an R18 adult lifestyles expo?

Is it now considered objectionable to use fruit in advertising, or just in advertising adult activities?

Or is it the type of fruit that is the problem...maybe a banana next time??

We are confused, had the fruit not been there the woman's pubic region would have been displayed, which some find objectionable (we don't).

We ask why, do we as tax payers, fund this sort of nonsensical deliberations and decisions?
