Joe Cooper from the Subway - Avanti Pro Cycling team is confident he can take the leader’s yellow jersey in this afternoon’s individual time trial at the Air France Tour of New Caledonia.

Cooper is now only one minute and 40 seconds off yellow after three days in the mountains. He won the opening prologue in impressive fashion and his form suggests a repeat effort is very likely this afternoon.

“I know I can make up the ground in the time trial,” Cooper said. “I’ve been going well and would probably be in yellow if I hadn’t missed the break on the first stage where I lost quite a bit of time.”

The tour finishes tomorrow with the 10th stage 78 kilometre criterium in the city of Dumbéa.
