National Fieldays 2011 open for business

Organisers of New Zealand’s iconic rural trade show, National Agricultural Fieldays, have released the prospectus for the 2011 event held 15 to 18 June at Mystery Creek Events Centre, Hamilton. To date there has been healthy interest with 70% of all agricultural sites reserved for Fieldays 2011 since July. The Agricultural area dominates 92% of Fieldays exhibition space, with the complementary Rural Living area taking just 8% of Fieldays territory.

Into its 43rd year, National Fieldays hosts on average 1000 exhibitors on 1400 sites within the 40 hectare exhibition and demonstration space. The annual four day event attracts in excess of 120,000 visitors, providing exhibiting businesses the ultimate connection to farming customers, both locally and internationally.

Fieldays is often the most significant component or sole activity in an exhibitors’ marketing campaign. Sales are not the only driver behind a presence at Fieldays; the event is seen as a crucial relationship building opportunity. Farmers often dedicate 2 to 3 days off the farm to head to Fieldays on a quest to see the latest in the rural sector. Visitors come expecting a barrage of deals, new developments and information; supplying exhibitors with a welcome captive audience.

So what’s new for Fieldays 2011? National Fieldays Society is pleased to maintain the majority of site prices, keeping rates on par with the 2010 event. The Premier Feature and topical theme of Fieldays 2011 is ‘Breaking Barriers to Productivity’; which will offer farmers solutions to obstacles that stifle production.

Resulting from the success of 2010’s relocation, Fieldays Innovation Centre moves to a larger area on M Road. Due to demand for more space; the number of sites in the International Exhibition area of Mystery Creek Pavilion has increased. The recent removal of ‘The Dome’ building has resulted in additional outdoor sites in the Rural Living area, which is now also home to the popular ‘Kiwi’s Best’ food marquee.

Site allocation will take place from 1 December, 2010; applications received by this date will be given priority over later submissions. Organisers assess all applicants on the agricultural relevance of their core business, in the event numerous businesses apply for the same sites, a ballot process will be executed with appropriate sites allocated accordingly.
