It’s the women’s time to shine in Scarbro Caro Bowl as round three of the competition is played this Friday night after the Labour Weekend break.

A potential preview of the women’s final will be staged at the Royal Oak club. For so long the Royal Oak team has been a beaten finalist, usually to Parnell, a side which has dominated the competition.

This season Royal Oak has won both of its matches with the maximum eight points. Parnell has played one round and then had a bye.

It will be a real test for the youngsters Leela Beattie and Emily Fanning who are 16 and 15 respectively for Royal Oak as they take on Franziska Etzel who was ranked in the world’s top 400 players and Pavlina Nola who was a top 100 player.

Another Kiwi match up will be in the lower order where Nicola Kaiwai will play former Kiwi No1 Rewa Harriman(Parnell) while the No4 singles could feature two experienced campaigners in Angela Swinkels a Royal Oak stalwart versus Amanda Trail.

No matter what the line up these clubs have a long history against each other.

Pompallier are the other team which looks like it could really challenge this season, mainly as a result of the Shelley Bryce in the top position. The host Glendowie and will be looking to stay in the running with more big points. Meanwhile Remuera will be hoping to open their points account when they are at home against Kohimarama.

In the men’s competition Cockle Bay host one of the top sides, Campbell Park who are well worth watching with the flair of its two Argentine players Gustavo Gomez and Mariano Pettigrosso. The Parnell men host Royal Oak and should be too strong all round as former world top 200 ranked players Mark Nielsen and Alistair Hunt head their side.

Remuera will have a chance to get back into winning ways after their second round loss to Parnell when they take on Pompallier. The No1 singles clash features American coach, Paul Koenke(Remuera) against former Davis Cup player Teo Susnjak.

In the other match Herne Bay travel to Blockhouse Bay with the home side hoping to have Kiwi international, Marcus Daniell back from injury.
