Harcourts acquisition forms 11 office group on North Shore

Successful Harcourts’ franchise Cooper & Co Real Estate Ltd is increasing its operation to 11 offices across the North Shore by acquiring Concept Realty Ltd, which currently operates three Harcourts offices in the area.
Cooper & Co Principal Officer and Managing Director Martin Cooper says the purchase, which officially occurs on 1 November, coincides with the retirement of the owner of Concept Realty Ltd, Margaret Collings. “After many years in the real estate industry, initially as a sales consultant and more recently as a Harcourts franchise owner operating offices in Northcote, Birkenhead and Beach Haven, Margaret has decided to retire – which presented my business partners and I with an opportunity to expand that we couldn’t resist.
“With the acquisition our operation will encompass the entire North Shore, increasing from eight to 11 offices and a total of 300 staff, including sales consultants, management, support staff and property managers. Obviously having a business of that size strengthens our position in the market and enables us to achieve some economies of scale that will benefit both our clients and our team.”
Mr Cooper says he is looking forward to welcoming the Harcourts Northcote, Birkenhead and Beach Haven teams into the Cooper & Co group, which already includes offices in Albany, Browns Bay, Campbells Bay, Mairangi Bay, Glenfield, Takapuna, Milford and Devonport.
Meanwhile Harcourts New Zealand CEO Hayden Duncan says it is excellent to see a successful Harcourts franchise continuing to grow.
“Cooper & Co is a go-ahead company - expanding earlier this year through the acquisition of a business formerly operating under another brand, steadily increasing marketshare and undertaking exciting initiatives such as a recent property showcase in Shanghai.
