WHANGANUI

The cream of New Zealand’s motorcycle road racers will descend on Paeroa this weekend Feb 17/18 for the Yamaha "Battle of the Streets" event.

Current Superbike Champion, Hamilton’s Andrew Stroud (Suzuki) leads both the Formula One and the Robert Holden Memorial series after a hard fought battle at Wanganui on Boxing Day.

He was strongly challenged by 600 Sports Production Champion and street race specialist, Feilding’s Craig Shirriffs (Suzuki) and Australian imports Scott Charlton and Chris Seaton this year riding Yamahas for Brian Bernard Racing.

The extra fast Paeroa should see some excellent racing in these high powered classes.

Taranaki’s Terry Fitzgerald on his Suzuki SV650 has dominated Formula Three so far, while Auckland’s Toby Summers currently leads the Supermotard class

The ever-popular sidecars were dominated at Wanganui by Australian Stacy Sellar with his New Zealand passenger Darren Abrahams, on their LCR Sidecar, however the rig has been sold to Wanganui’s Stephen Bron, who has been campaigning it in the South Island rounds of the National Championship.

This will make for some very close hard racing come Sunday.
