One seriously injured in crash

At approximately 4.38pm on Saturday the 6th of November 2010 there was a head-on crash involving two vehicles on Highcliff Road, Dunedin.

A Mistubishi vehicle containing 3 female occupants was travelling north on Highcliff Road when it has collided with a Toyota Surf vehicle travelling in the opposite direction. The crash has occurred on a moderate left hand bend.

A 20 year old female, who is believed to have been travelling in the back seat of the Mitsubishi was airlifted to the Dunedin Public Hospital with serious head injuries. The 19 year old driver and 20 year old front seat passenger were taken to Dunedin Public Hospital by ambulance with minor to moderate injuries.

The occupants of the Toyota Surf males aged 26 and 28 appear to have been uninjured.

Emergency Service crews from Portobello and Dunedin attended the scene. A Serious Crash Investigator from Invercargill also attended the scene along with a Police Photographer.

At this stage it is not known what has caused the crash however it is believed that alcohol is not a contributing factor.
