Christmas Events Calendar Launched

Preparations are being made for a new Christmas Events calendar to keep the public informed about Yuletide celebrations, Queenstown Lakes District Council arts and events facilitator Jan Maxwell said. 

The calendar, which will be released at the end of this month, will list all the Christmas events in the district and Mrs Maxwell said she’s keen to hear from anyone who has an event planned. 

“We want to hear about everything that’s going on from Christmas carol services to community barbeques,” said Mrs Maxwell.”Big events like the Shotover Jet Remarkables Christmas Spectacular will be featured but we’d like promote smaller events as well, like Santa Claus visiting a playgroup. If it’s got anything to do with Christmas, we’d like to hear about it.” 

The deadline for inclusion is midday on Monday 22 November, 2010, with a ‘cut-out and keep’ version being published in The Mirror on Wednesday. The calendar will also be available at the QLDC offices, local libraries and schools as well as on the council website. 

“This is a great way of letting people know what’s on around the district this Christmas, “ said Mrs Maxwell. “ We’re sure everyone will find the calendar useful and we’re looking forward to hearing about all the fun things people have got planned.”
