Steady enquiry is coming forth on a sizeable development block in the heart of Timaru’s main industrial-commercial district of Washdyke.

The parcel of just over 13ha of land is held in two titles and has a mixture of zoning with Commercial 3, Industrial L and Rural 2 land.

Marketing agent Hamish Blair of Bayleys Canterbury says the area has become established as the main service centre for the Timaru district and as such, has attracted high profile national and local businesses.

“The phones have been ringing with enquiry primarily from local Timaru business people wishing to secure land in this precinct as they recognise the intrinsic value of the area. Given that the Council has already approved subdivision plans drafted by Opus International Consultants Ltd for seven light industrial sections, the future of this land is heartening,” says Mr Blair.

The already approved plans for the Light Industrial portion of the land include sections ranging from 3188sqm to 4404sq m.

“The Commercial 3-zoned land could be developed separately, land-banked or used to provide secondary access to the Rural 2-zoned land which is ideally located for possible rezoning to light industrial in the future,” explains Mr Blair.

A neighbouring farm has indicated that they may look at leasing the remaining rural land so the options are varied and encouraging.

The property is accessible from both Hilton Highway and Washdyke Flat Road and benefits from broad street exposure creating enviable branding opportunities for businesses.

The evolving nature of this area in recent years has attracted a variety of substantial commercial and industrial operators and neighbouring businesses include Beaurepaires, Caltex, VTNZ and Complete Gardener.

The property is being sold by way of Deadline Private Treaty with offers to be received by 9 December.
