CHRISTCHURCH

The Subway-Avanti Pro Cycling team have named a strong line up of six riders for this weekend’s Armstrong Motor Group Festival of Cycling being held in Christchurch.

Team Manager Hayden Godfrey said there were a number of options for the team to make an impact in the event which includes the 80 kilometre Avanti Long Bays Classic on Saturday and the euro-style excitement of criterium racing in the central city on Sunday.

“Michael Vink should feature in the crit (criterium) and several of the boys should make their presence felt in the road race,” he said.

“Joe Cooper has won the race in the past and convincing won the King of the Mountain jersey at the Tour of Southland so should be at the business end of the road race.”

The Subway-Avanti team for the Armstrong Motor Group Festival of Cycling is:
Joe Cooper, Nick Lovegrove, James Williamson, Sam Horgan, Michael Vink and Ian Smallman.
