Play started at 10am for the third day of the NZCT finals in Taupo.

In Group A - Epsom Girls’ Grammar won the toss and elected to bat against in-form Hillcrest High School at Kaimanawa Reserve. Wanganui Collegiate won the toss and also decided to bat against St Hilda’s.

In Group B – Avondale College won the toss and put Havelock North High School into bat, While Christchurch Girls’ won the toss against Wellington Girls’ and elected to bowl.

Today is the final round of pool play, with the final of the competition being played tomorrow. Christchurch Girls’ have already secured a place in the finals after being victorious against Havelock North and Avondale. Hillcrest High School from Hamilton is a current favourite to also have a place in the final tomorrow.

Epsom Girls and Wanganui Colligate from Group A and Avondale and Havelock North from Group B still have an outside chance. All four teams are on two points.

If two teams are on equal points at the end of today, a finalist will be determined by who won the round robin game against each other.  If three teams are on the same points at the end of today a finalist will be found from runs per wicket differential.

New Zealand Cricket women’s National Development officer and current White Fern Sara McGlashan said the competition is heating up and she is expecting to see some exciting games today. “Over the last few days we have seen some outstanding play and today is the final chance for some teams to push for a place in the finals,” she said. “There are some very talented players here and I imagine I will see many of them step up to the next level in the near future.”
