Woman charged with murder of new-born

A 27-year old woman has been charged with the murder of a new-born baby after an incident in Christchurch overnight.

The woman appeared in the Christchurch District Court this morning and was remanded in custody for psychiatric assessment.

The name of the accused is suppressed, as are all facts in the case.
