E-day is a simple, free and effective way to dispose of your unwanted household computer waste.

E-day will take place on Sunday, September 30 from 10am to 2pm at the North Shore Events Centre (Silverfield Rd entrance).

Auckland E-day is part of a national initiative that is based on the highly successful collection of old computers last year in Wellington.

North Shore City’s waste minimisation officer, Harry Livesey, says E-day is an environmentally sustainable way to dispose of household computer waste and old mobile phones.

“Electronic waste that is not disposed of properly can seriously harm the environment, wildlife and human health.

“Taking part in E-day is a great way to ensure the resources in your e-waste are recycled rather than landfilled,” he says.

“E-waste equipment that can be recycled in New Zealand is processed locally. Other equipment that cannot be recycled here, such as the lead containing glass of computer monitors, is shipped overseas to be recycled,” he says.

PCs, keyboards, speakers, toners, mobile phones, mice, laptops, scanners, monitors, printers, toner cartridges and networking gear will all be accepted.

Please ensure that you remove all data from your computer’s hard drive and any removable media such as CDs.
