It’s a battle of North v South at the NZCT final today in Taupo.

Christchurch Girls’ won all their round robin games and progressed through to today’s final with ease. Hillcrest cemented a place yesterday when they won convincingly over Epsom Girls’ Grammar by five wickets.

Play started at 9.30 this morning at Owen Delany Park and Kaimanawa Reserve.

In the final, Hillcrest won the toss and put Christchurch Girls’ into bat.

In the third and fourth playoff Havelock North High School won the toss and put Epsom Girls’ Grammar into bat.

Wangani Collegiate and Avondale College play today for fifth and sixth place. Wanganui won the toss and elected to bat. Wellington Girls’ also won the toss and decided to bat against St Hilda’s Collegiate for seventh and eighth place.

New Zealand Cricket women’s development officer and current White Fern Sara McGlashan said today’s final is set to be a thriller. “Both sides have had a solid run to the final, so we expect to see some explosive play by both sides today,” she said. “Some key players will be Heidi Arnt and Felicity Leydon-Davis from Hillcrest and Laura Hughes from Christchurch. All three girls have been impressive over the last few days and their side will be looking to them to be the game makers.”
