Some of New Zealand’s leading chefs, entertainers and service professionals are set to host a fundraising dinner in aid of the Pike River Miners Relief Fund next February.

The event, spearheaded by TV One Good Morning hosts Brendon Pongia and Adam Newell, as well as chef, Gary Miller, will be held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Christchurch. It will be a night of reflection, great food and beverages, along with entertainment from an array of Kiwi entertainers.

Mr Pongia, who hails from Greymouth, says he is looking forward the event and the chance to give back to the wider Greymouth community.

“I’m honoured to be part of this initiative and it’s great I can do something for my home town and community,” he says.

“Adam, Gary and I have been overwhelmed by the support and volunteer involvement from the hospitality, entertainment and foodservices industries so far – this really will be an incredible event.”

Along with dinner and cabaret performance, there will also be a live auction. Mr Miller says the auction will be unique.

“What will make the auction special is the fact we’ll be auctioning experiences; things you can’t necessarily go to a shop and buy,” says Mr Miller.

The current line-up of participating chefs includes Adam Newell and Martin Bosley from Wellington, Geoff Scott and Glen Rockhouse from Auckland, Jonny Schwass, Darren Wright and Andrew Brown from Christchurch and Steven Le Corre from Timaru.
