Opotiki homicide investigation continues

The Eastern Bay of Plenty Police are continuing to investigate the death of a 35 year old Opotiki male which occurred shortly before 7.00am on Saturday, 15th September 2007.

The deceased was Mr Munirangi Boxer Collier. 

Initial enquiries indicate that Mr COLLIER travelled to a rural address in the Motu Valley region and following an altercation the deceased suffered a fatal injury and died at the scene. 

Police will not specualte on the nature of the fatal injury until a Post Mortem examination has been conducted on Monday.

Following the incident a 43 year old male contacted the Northern Communications Centre and at around 9.00am on Saturday 15th September 2007 he surrendered himself to police without incident.

This male has since been charged in connection with the death of Mr COLLIER and will be appearing in the Whakatane District Court on Monday morning 17th September 2007.

Police are not seeking any other person in connection with the death of Mr COLLIER.
