Two die after fatal crash near Tauranga

Two men are dead after a crash which occurred this morning in Tauranga.

Senior Sergeant Rob Glencross of the Tauranga Police said that a motorcycle and small truck collided on Oropi Road shortly after 9am this morning.

The motorcyclist, a 55 year old Pyes Pa man, and the driver of the truck, a 68 year old Greerton man, both died at the scene.

Enquiries are continuing into the cause of the accident and will be led by traffic investigators from the Tauranga South Police Station.

The names of the deceased will not be released at this stage.
