Cyclist death in Christchurch

The Lyttelton Police are dealing with the tragic death of a road cyclist who was killed yesterday (12 February 2011) while out riding with his friends on the Summit Road in the Christchurch Port Hills.

The incident occurred around 11.25 am at Mt Cavendish Scenic reserve car park below the Christchurch Gondola Restaurant.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward and in particular would like to speak to an off duty doctor and an off duty nurse who assisted at the scene.

Also two males, possibly tourists, who were near the Mt Cavendish Scenic reserve car park at the time and may have witnessed the crash are asked to contact the Lyttelton Police.
