When the Khurana family of South Auckland decided to ventilate their home, they became healthy home ventilation specialists HRV’s 100,000th customer.

This significant milestone comes only eight years after the company was established in 2003. Since its humble beginnings, HRV has quickly grown to become New Zealand’s largest home ventilation company, employing 400 staff through 20 locally-owned franchises across the country.

Justin Boyes, General Manager of Marketing for HRV, says the company’s success is testament to the quality of its product and New Zealanders’ increasing understanding of the importance of home ventilation.

“The rapid uptake of our product demonstrates that Kiwis are really realising the health and energy-saving benefits of home ventilation. This is particularly important in a country like New Zealand where our climate varies significantly and many homes are affected by moisture issues such as condensation, dampness and mould,” says Boyes.

Other businesses and industry bodies are realising the system’s merits too. HRV was awarded with the prestigious Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) mark, the first product of its type to receive the award due to its quality and low environmental impact. It has also been accepted into the Sensitive Choice programme by the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation of New Zealand as it reduces asthma and allergy triggers.

The company’s growth has been outstanding in recent years with expansion into Australia where it currently has two franchises operating. HRV was also featured in 2008’s Deloitte Fast 50 index of New Zealand businesses undergoing significant growth.

The business is now looking to the future and aims to see every New Zealand home equipped with quality ventilation.

“With the HRV’s minimal running costs and numerous benefits, we see the potential for every home in New Zealand to have an HRV system and imagine it becoming standard just like a microwave,” concludes Boyes.
