People keen to take part in the one day, mega land sale of 20 hot properties at Queenstown’s beautiful Jack’s Point are encouraged to attend this weekend’s Queenstown Home Show to join a growing number of registered bidders.

Opening bids can be placed*, sections previewed, and professional advice sought from lawyers, architects and mortgage brokers at Show which takes place from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 February at the Queenstown Events Centre.

The 20 sections will be sold by silent auction at Jack’s Point clubroom at 1pm, March 20 in what is billed as Queenstown’s “mega land sale”. Current owner Lifestyles of New Zealand (2008) Ltd purchased the sites from the original developer in 2006.

Bas Smith, owner of Ray White Queenstown says the auction was expected to create a magnetic pull to attract buyers back into the region’s property market.

“We’re hoping to generate interest from a range of people at the home show and can offer professional advice and support for people who are serious about this investment,” he said. “People will have a chance to browse local lawyers, architects and mortgage brokers, meet local residents and developers.

“Essentially it’s a valuable opportunity to gain an understanding of life at Jack’s Point so that people can make an informed decision and buy in confidence.”

The auction event is expected to draw a wide range of buyers from throughout Southland and Otago with reserves set very low.

“These sections offer exceptional value for money in an emerging development with access to lake and resort facilities and unrivalled mountain views,” he said. “This sale is a one-off, brought about by a unique set of circumstances,” said Mr Smith.

“Sections could sell at half their current rateable valuations. 20 people stand to benefit from an incredibly good buy.”

The Queenstown Home Show takes place from 10am to 5pm Friday to Sunday and will showcase more than 100 national and local businesses exhibiting the latest kitchen and bathrooms. The latest styles, designs and eco-friendly products will also be on show as well as food, wine, coffee and work of local artists. Entry cost is $7 on the door.
