Auckland’s central city is bringing together the best of city style for 24 hours of fabulousness with the ‘BIG little City’s Fashion Friday’.

Fashion Friday on March 25 is a day for fashionistas and fans of fine food to indulge their passions in Auckland’s BIG little City.

Dedicated followers of fashion can check out in-store events at some of the city’s most aspirational boutiques, enjoy a long lunch on High St, catch the hottest styles at a fashion show and then let their hair down at the ‘NZ Fashion Festival Official after party’.

It’s all part of the NZ Fashion Festival in Auckland’s CBD during the week of March 21 to 26 – and BIG little City has claimed Friday March 25 as its own.

Heart of the City’s Alex Swney says Fashion Friday is a great opportunity to take a three-day weekend.

“Far be it for me to encourage people to take a day off but this event is really one of a kind – an all-day fusion of fashion, food and fun events to showcase what our central city does best.”

Designers, retailers and restaurateurs from Auckland’s CBD have pulled together to create an experience for fashion followers so they can get the best of both food and fashion in a unique one-day package.

The High Street Long Lunch will see 400 diners enjoy cuisine from renowned central city eateries including O'Connell Street Bistro, Vivace, Kitchen, Rakino's, Merlot and more.

There’s also a variety of fantastic in-store events. Visitors to the city can be styled by Francis Hooper at the World Deluxe store from midday or by Turet Knuefermann at tkstore from 10am to 5pm.

You can be a stylist for a day at Moochi in Vulcan Lane from 10am until 2pm, or receive a gift with purchase at the Trelise Cooper flagship Princes Wharf store.

In shed 6 on Wellesley Street BIG little City hosts the 'Collections 4' parade (in association with Remix Magazine) at 7.30pm before Fashion Friday culminates in style with the official NZ Fashion Festival After Party at the Britomart Country Club.

Alex Swney says the New Zealand Fashion Festival is designed to make fashion more accessible to a wider consumer audience.

“For those who don’t get to see the shows at New Zealand Fashion Week, this event has the glamour of Fashion Week plus the added bonus of showcasing clothing that is in-store now – you don’t have to wait for the next season to roll around.
