In association with Jameson, the world’s number one Irish whiskey – triple distilled and twice as smooth, the highly anticipated Jameson Jam Sessions are hitting Auckland’s Sale St on Thursday 7th April.

With a lineup of Tahuna Breaks, Sacha Vee (w live band), Isaac Aesili and Rachel Fraser (live PA set), the second Jameson Jam Session for 2011 is set to be full to the brim with downright good times and a definite crowd-pleaser.

Headline act, Tahuna Breaks will be dishing up a serving of dance-fuelling progressive funk and roots. This is their first Auckland concert since their two sell-out performances at The Powerstation last year and Tahuna Breaks promise new and previously unheard material. With an appetite for continuously pushing boundaries in their live performance, audiences have already begun taking note of the band’s shift towards a sound that is bigger, darker and heavier.

Sacha Vee and her live band will be stoking the fire with her breath-taking sound, which uniquely combines neo soul, funk and jazz; while sophisticated duo Isaac Aesili and Rachel Fraser will be delivering a set drenched with R&B hustle and swagger mixed with experimental future soul.

With all acts notorious for their live shows, the Auckland Jameson Jam Session expertly curates the cream of New Zealand’s up-and-coming talent in the funk, soul, roots and jazz genres.

“The Jameson Jam Session at Sale St is an event that celebrates New Zealand’s up-and-coming talent,” says Kathryn Love, Brand Manager for Jameson. “A successful start to the 2011 Jameson Jam Sessions saw fantastic responses from our loyal fans about the Jameson experience, we can’t wait for the Sale St event.”

Having spent a lot of time recently working on their forthcoming album, Tahuna Breaks - a band that relishes performing live - are more than excited to take the stage at the Auckland Jameson Jam Session.

"We can’t wait to play our new songs and set for our first night-time show of the year at the Jameson Jam Session,” says Tim Gemmel, Tahuna Breaks’ drummer and a founding member.

Jameson Jam Sessions – The Best Gigs – The Best Drinks

Notes to the Editor

Jameson Irish Whiskey:

Coming to you all the way from Dublin in Ireland, Jameson is a premium Irish Whiskey that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Founder, John Jameson arrived in Ireland in the 1770’s and established his distillery in 1780 and quickly won the reputation as a demanding perfectionist in the production of his Irish Whiskey.

In December 2010, Jameson Irish whiskey, distilled by Irish Distillers in Midleton, Co. Cork, Ireland announced annual sales of three million cases sold globally, including one million cases in the U.S., its largest export market. As a result, Jameson has further strengthened its position as the world’s leading Irish whiskey.
The number one selling Irish whiskey in NZ and across the globe, Jameson is exceptionally smooth, triple distilled from the finest barley and pure spring water - perfect for mixing.

Jameson Jam Sessions - The Line Up

Tahuna Breaks

Tahuna Breaks have always encompassed a rich diversity of musical genres and styles.

With seven members, the group’s live act is energetic, raw and large. It combines aspects of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and is influenced by artists as varied as James Brown to daft punk. The band are well known for being unafraid to mix genres and have honed their sound on the live stage that encompasses funk, disco, soul, live electronics and roots.

Regulars at major events, the band have performed at The Big Day Out, Homegrown, Highlife NYE and many other major festivals across both New Zealand and Australia, along with countless tours and sold out performances. They have released two albums Reflections (2007) and Black Brown & White (2009) both of which received rave reviews. Their third album is due for release late 2011 and is being co-produced by UK Producers ‘Crazy P’.

Sacha Vee:

Sacha Vee is a unique vocalist making waves in the international music scene. The 25-year-old’s gutsy vocals belie her age and hark back to classic soul divas, with comparisons of her sound often being drawn to Erykah Badu, Alice Russell and India Arie.

Highly accomplished, Vee’s talent was first discovered when she won the “Best Vocalist” award at the New Zealand Jazz Festival at the tender age of 16. Recently, she has had opening slots for Shapeshifter and Hollie Smith, collaborated with high profile artists such as Benny Tones on his track 'Chrysalis' and released her self-titled debut EP to huge acclaim. With rave reviews and tremendous feedback from her live performances, Sacha Vee's determination to become a leading vocalist in today’s music industry is swiftly becoming a reality.

Isaac Aesili and Rachel Fraser:

Ridiculously talented and multi-tasking collaborators – vocalist, Rachel Fraser and multi-instrumentalist, Isaac Aesili - are no strangers to the music scene; their individual resumes are proof, name checking an impressive variety of trailblazers in the industry from Opensouls and Trinity Roots to Crowded House, Sola Rosa and Recloose.

Unsurprisingly it was when touring Europe, Australia and New Zealand together as part of a variety of live bands that the duo first established a creative connection. The pair has been collaborating since, creating lush future R&B and progressive soul, which is always laced with their distinctive hustle and swagger.
