The 2011 New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards national final is expected to be a sell-out, with just 50 tickets remaining to the awards dinner.

National convenor Chris Keeping says tickets to the awards dinner being held at the Queenstown Events Centre on Saturday May 14 had been selling quickly and would sell out.

Mrs Keeping expects 600 people to attend the dinner, where the 2011 winners of the New Zealand Sharemilker/Equity Farmer of the Year, New Zealand Farm Manager of the Year and New Zealand Dairy Trainee of the Year will be announced.

“The search for the national winners began in November last year and our 36 regional finalists have been whittled down from nearly 500 entries received in the three competitions nationwide.

“Tickets to the dinner went on sale earlier this month, with finalists, and their families and supporters, sponsors and dairy industry leaders quickly snapping them up.

“It is such a fun, positive night for the dairy industry as we recognise some of the country’s most enterprising and progressive dairy farmers.”

More than $130,000 in cash and prizes will also be distributed to the winners on the night.

The New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards are supported by national sponsors Westpac, DairyNZ, Ecolab, Federated Farmers, Fonterra, Honda Motorcycles NZ, LIC, Meridian Energy, Ravensdown and RD1, along with industry partner Agriculture ITO.

Tickets are $130 per person and can be obtained by free phone 0800 693 423 (Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm).
