Wellington Police investigating Kilbirnie bank robbery

WELLINGTON CITY

Wellington Police are investigating a robbery at the Post Shop/Kiwibank in Bay Road, Kilbirnie just before 4:30pm this afternoon.

Detective Sergeant Shane Dye of the Wellington CIB says a man entered the shop with a note, which demanded cash.

"The employee handed over a sum of money and the offender left the shop, walking south on Bay Road."

The offender is described as Polynesian of solid build, in his mid-20's. He was wearing a black jacket, black pants, white shoes and a grey beanie. He was also carrying a dark-coloured satchel over his shoulder.

"We want to hear from anyone who may have seen this man at the time of the incident around 4:30pm this afternoon."
