The search for Miss Tui 2011 is over. Today Wellingtonian Kyoko Pohe has won the prestigious Miss Tui 2011 title.

Over nine weeks, 123 clever, beautiful and talented contestants were all vying for the bragging rights to be Miss Tui 2011! It was always going to be tough choice with so many amazing girls, but the wait is finally over for 20 year old Johnsonville resident and avid Hurricanes supporter Kyoko, who has been crowned Miss Tui 2011.

Choosing the eventual winner was the closest in the competitions history with all eight finalists being extremely creative, engaging, entertaining, clever, talented, and beautiful…not to mention massive Tuians! However the Wellington lass Kyoko stood out from the other finalists with an overwhelming number of votes making her the worthy winner of this year’s contest.

Kyoko has won the bragging rights of being a prestigious Tui Brewery Girl; she will be presented with a winner’s cheque of $1000, feature in a photoshoot with New Zealand Performance Car Magazine and receive a year’s supply (52 dozen) of that fantastic beer which made all this possible - Tui.

Tui Brand Manager William Papesch has been overwhelmed by this year’s contest and the way all the contestants and finalists embraced the challenges. “Firstly we would like to thank all the finalists, everyone did exceptionally well in the challenges and the votes were very close. There were over 12,000 votes cast in the past two weeks, making this the most successful Miss Tui contests ever. Sadly though, like all contests there can only be one winner, and this year the deserved winner of the Miss Tui 2011 title is Kyoko Pohe. She has worked hard from day one and has consistently been getting a huge number of votes. The judges were really impressed with the way she threw herself at the final two challenges, in particular, getting Hurricanes Piri Wipu, Cory Jane and Ma’a Nonu to feature in her Tui Degrees of Separation challenge.”

When asked about the contest and her win, Kyoko said “It was hard work. I’ve put a lot of thought and effort into all the challenges. I just can’t believe I’ve won, all that hard work paid-off. It completely amazing, I just can’t explain how much this means to me. I am so happy to be Miss Tui 2011!”

A round of applause is also going out from Tui for the seven finalists; Hayley Moore (Lower Hutt), Rachel Whitwell (Auckland), Emma Goddard (Hamilton), Kristina Kostovska (North Shore), Krystal-Leigh Shortland (Palmerston North), Alicia MacDonald (Te Kuiti) and Alex Moulden (Waitakere) who all did exceptionally well in the final challenges. Papesch says all the finalists were great ambassadors for Tui and will be getting a consolation prize for taking part in the contest.

So what’s next? Kyoko says she’s looking forward to chilling out and enjoying her year-long reign as Miss Tui, and what a popular reign it will be – she’s got a dozen Tui to share with her friends, not to mention her fans, for the next 52 weeks!
