A fantastic new exhibition The Making of the Word Witch opens at Rotorua Museum on Saturday [21 May].

Featuring over 95 original works, including both working and finished drawings, the exhibition draws together the imaginative genius of internationally acclaimed children’s author Margaret Mahy and the creative brilliance of illustrator David Elliot.

Visitors will also be treated to some of Margaret Mahy’s priceless early writings, in original form, where her poetic talent was clearly evident from a young age.

Tessa Duder, editor of The Word Witch, describes the exhibition as "a window into the magical world of imagination, a celebration of creativity that, along with a good deal of hard work, lies behind a handsome book that will undoubtedly become a children’s classic".

Duder will be giving a talk at the Museum on Saturday 21 May at 1pm.

Entry to the exhibition and talk are included with admission to Museum, which is free for Rotorua residents with ID.
