Life Flight's Westpac Rescue Helicopter Winches Mountain Biker from the Hayward's Hill in Lower Hut

At 1100 this morning the Life Flight Trust responded to the Hayward's Hill in Lower Hutt to a 41yr old female who had been out Mountain Biking with some friends on a Four Wheel drive track when she fell off.

Life Flight responded with a Wellington Free Paramedic on board the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Due to the patients Location on the track the Paramedic was winched down to her location.

Once the patient had been assessed by the Paramedic they were both winched back into the Helicopter together.

The patient was flown to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where she is being further assessed and treated for injuries which were to her leg, arm and head.

The Life Flight Trust is a charity providing air rescue and air ambulance services. It operates the Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a national air ambulance service.
