LEVIN

Horowhenua District Council and the Horowhenua Library Trust, propose to upgrade and expand the Levin Library at its current Bath Street location, and onto adjoining land, because it is too small.

The redevelopment of the library was identified in Council’s Long Term Council Community Plan in 2006, as was the need for more space to meet other community needs.

While a concept design has been produced, an opportunity now exists for you to have an input into the project.

A feasibility study report is currently being prepared by Opus International Consultants Limited looking at the development of a community centre in Levin, which would also include the current services provided by the library.

In order to complete the feasibility report we need to hear your views on what you want to see in this new community centre!

Your feedback on the following aspects are welcomed:
• What do you like about the current Levin Library?
• What do you currently use the Library for?
• If you don’t use it – what would make you use it?
• What do you want to see in the new library/community centre?
• What other services, such as meeting rooms for hire or businesses, should be included in the library/community centre in the future?
• Is there a theme or a way the new library/community centre could reflect the District’s identity (what should it look like)?
• How should it link to the surrounding area?
