MANAWATU District Council’s connection with youth in the region was further strengthened this week when students from four schools delivered lively photo-voice presentations at a Manawatu Youth Forum in the council chamber.

The Awahou, Mount Biggs, Feilding Intermediate and Feilding High School representatives delivered short insights on various photo-voice projects they have been involved with over the past 12 months.

Subjects covering road signs, native tracks, rugby goalposts, bus stops, graffiti, speed limits, murals, Rugby World Cup activities and a mini rural day were among those aired before Manawatu District councillors, officers and staff, as well as representatives from numerous community organisations.

MDC Economic Development and Recreation Advisor, Chris Foggin, said the students had really achieved during the year and been responsible for significant changes with some of the issues they had raised.

Mr Foggin said six photo-voice projects and four youth forums were planned for the coming year and he was looking forward to more exciting presentations being made.
