The annual Polar Plunge is back with hundreds expected to turn out for a mid-winter swim on Petone Foreshore, Saturday 16 July.

It is a chance to celebrate the cooler months with a chilly dip and win great spot prizes.

Thousands of dollars worth of prizes are up for grabs including a 5-burner BBQ package and a $250 voucher both from Mitre10 Mega

There is also an incentive to dress up for the occasion with prizes for the best dressed individual and group.

The Polar Plunge is a fundraiser for local charity Wesleyhaven Vilage in Naenae and is organised by Hutt City Council with support from Mitre10 Mega and Classic Hits.

Entry is by gold coin donation.

Online pre-registrations are open at www.huttcity.govt.nz/polarplunge.

All entries received before 5pm on Wednesday 13 July will be entered into a special prize draw on the day.

Registrations on the day open from 11am.
