Expert Tips for Pruning Fruit Trees

What are the tips and tricks to pruning fruit trees well?

New Plymouth District Council is holding a pruning demonstration this Saturday (9 July) for anyone who wants guidance from horticulture experts on how to prune stone and pip fruit trees.

“This is the third year we’ve held pruning demonstrations as they’re very popular with home gardeners,” says Manager Parks Mark Bruhn.

“Being able to watch an expert prune trees takes the mystery out of it. Locals will be able to apply at home what they learn, and get the most out of their fruit trees each season.”

NPDC’s horticulture staff will also be able to answer questions that people have about caring for their fruit trees.

The demonstration starts at 10am in Sheppard’s Bush Orchard on Brois Street, New Plymouth, just up from Huatoki Street – look for the NPDC flags.
