Levin Police have arrested one person and are looking for a second after a man was stabbed at a property south of the town this morning.
A 34-year-Foxton man is undergoing surgery in Palmerston North Hospital for abdominal injuries.
Police have arrested a Levin woman who will appear in the Levin District Court later today charged with assault. More serious charges cannot be ruled out.
A second local person, a man, is also being sought in relation to the incident which happened between 5 and 5.30am at a property several kilometres south of Levin.
Detective Sergeant Sarn Paroli, Levin Police, said a passing truck driver alerted police after seeing the wounded man in some distress coming out of a main highway property south of Levin.
“The victim has managed to get into a car and drive himself to the Shell Service Station in Levin to seek help,” Detective Sergeant Paroli said. “A service station attendant also came to his aid and called for an ambulance.”
Both the service station and the house where the stabbing is alleged to have occurred are both cordoned off for a forensic scene examination.
