HAMILTON

The count-down is on for the annual Bauer Hamilton – Auckland 100km road race that starts this Sunday 7 October.

Organisers are expecting close to 1500 cyclists to set off at 9.30am from Te Rapa Race course in Hamilton, travelling up SH1 to Ngaruwahia, before crossing the Waikato River, and then it’s onto Rangariri, Opuatia, Pukekawa, Tuakau and a spectacular street finish in King St, Pukekohe.

This year also sees the addition of the exciting new Pulse Puke 50km ride which starts and finishes in Pukekohe and takes riders on a scenic loop from Pukekohe out to Waiuku and return joining up with the 100km riders just before the finish in Pukekohe.

Both events offer riders three different categories to chose from - you can challenge on your own as a solo rider, double your power on a tandem or share the fun and effort as part of a MORE FM two person relay team.

Late entries are still being accepted online www.eventpromotions.co.nz  or you can enter on the day for the 100km event between 7am and 9am at the Kingsgate Hotel, Hamilton or for the 50km ride between 9am-11am at the Pukekohe Youth Centre. There are some great spot prizes up for grabs including a Sundance Spa Pool valued at $7000, two Bauer Road bikes and a Suzuki SJ50 Scooter.

If you can’t be in it, make sure you get along with the family and witness this amazing spectacle!

Organisers are reminding motorists that the roads on the event route will be heavily congested Sunday morning and thank them for their patience and for showing courtesy to the cyclists.

Entry forms and other information including a route map on the Bauer Hamilton to Auckland 100 km Express and Pulse Puke’ 50km can be obtained by visiting the Events Promotion website on www.eventpromotions.co.nz or your local bike shop
